Urban Chefs Safe Grilling Practices

Grilling Safety:

1.Follow the instuctions in your owner's manual on safely lighting and operating your grill. We know,these manuals   generally aren't spellbinding,but the do have need to know information thet you shouldn't skim over.

2. Keep your grill at lease five feet from any combustible materials, including your house,garage,treated wood or wood deck,patio,or porch.

3. Never use a grill indoors(that includes your garage)under a covered patio.

4. Never add lighter fluid to a lit fire.

5. Never use a grill that wobbles,lean,or is in way unstable.

6. Do not store a propane tank in an enclosed space including house,garage or shed.

7. Keep sleeves and garments out of the line of fire ---literally.

8. Keep a fire extinguisher close by in case of mishap. Never pour water on grease fire, Instead, cover a charcoal grill and close all vents: turn off gas grills at at the source.

9. Keep children and pets a safe distance away from hot grill.

10. When you're finished using your charcoal grill, close the lid and all the vents: on a gas turn off the LP tank and then the burners.

Food Safety:

1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before starting any meal preparation and after handling fresh meat,fish,or poultry

2. Thoroughly defrost foods in the frfrigerator, not on the counter top.

3. Use a clean spatula or tongs to remove food from grill.

4. Place foods removed from the grill on a clean platter.

5. Always grill grounf meats to at lease 160 (170 for poultry.
