Urban Chefs Two local chefs with over 25 years of food service experience have launched their line of hot sauce and hot vinegar as well as Creole and Cajun spices under the brand name of Urban Chefs. Their hot vinegar recently won first prize at the 2004 Fiery Food Challenge. Chile Pepper magazine, the only glossy food magazine covering the world of hot, zesty foods and lifestyle topics were the host of this annual event. This year’s competition drew a record-breaking 875 entries across 87 categories in divisions covering everything from salsa to Bloody Mary mix! Urban Chefs from Columbus, OH won first place in the Condiment/Oil-Infused-Vinegar category for its Chocolate Habanero. “We have only just begun with our line of condiments and food products. Our goal is to be in restaurants and grocery store chains throughout the country. Right now we are in Gally’s Restaurant at 1784 Huy Road, Jackson’s on Mt. Vernon Ave, and Bread and Better on Main Street. Grocery stores that retail Urban Chef are Jubilee Foods on High Street, Hill Top Market Place on West Broad, and Abbott’s Super Duper on South James Road and Shane’s Market on Livingston Ave all of our locations are in the Columbus area. We are expecting to enlarge our number of locations as well as our territory in 2005” states Urban Chefs President Anthony Frazier who is a trained chef with over 25 years experience in the Hospitality Industry. Corporate Chef Keith Griffea, most recently manager and head chef of the Linden Café in Columbus has shared his cooking expertise with appetites from the hotel restaurant industry to country club restaurant patrons and the Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. “Our goal is to have a complete line of food products from frozen foods to flour. We are also developing a recipe book and will be featuring many of our recipes in upcoming editions of Urban Trendsetters in a new feature entitled “Cooking with Urban Chefs.” We will feature recipes and tricks of the trade with various chefs throughout Ohio.
